How does the STARTOFYEAR function (DAX) work?

The STARTOFYEAR function (DAX) returns the first date of the year in the current context for the specified column of dates.

How do you use the STARTOFYEAR function?

This function filters <Dates> into a 1-row, 1-column table that shows only the earliest date, in the entire <Dates> column devoid of all filters, that is in the same year as the earliest visible date in <Dates>.

  • A reference to a date/time column.
  • A table expression that returns a single column of date/time values.
